What is Nowercise?
Nowercise is remote exercise coaching for people living with and beyond cancer, anywhere in the UK. It was founded by Dave Poole, one of a small number of personal trainers in the UK certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Cancer Exercise Specialist.
Why Dave built this
I lost my mum to cancer when I was in my early twenties. I watched her go through treatment — the exhaustion, the uncertainty, the way her world got smaller. Then I lost my dad to cancer more recently. Somewhere in between, I’d been quietly drawn toward understanding how the body responds to illness — and what could actually help.
When I was made redundant, I started my PT training at home, using baked bean tins as weights. I worked through my personal training qualification, then specialised in long-term conditions, then found cancer exercise — and everything clicked. This was the work I was supposed to be doing.
The credential that matters
The ACSM-ACS Cancer Exercise Specialist certification is the international gold standard for exercise oncology. There are very few of us in the UK. It means every programme Dave builds is grounded in the clinical evidence on cancer and exercise — not generic fitness advice adapted for the wrong audience.
